Family

FROM Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs on page 213,214

  • you verbalize your admiration of him for protecting you and being willing to die for you
  • you praise his commitment to provide for and protect you and the family (he needs to know you don’t take this for granted.)
  • you empathize when he reveals his male mind-set about position, status, rank, or being one-up or one-down, particularly at work
  • you never mock the idea of “looking down on you”
  • you never, in word or body language, put down his job or how much he makes
  • you are always ready to figuratively “light the candles,” as E.V. Hill’s wife did when they couldn’t afford to pay the light bill
  • you quietly and respectfully voice concerns about finances and try to offer solutions on where you might be able to cut spending

by Peter Doyle Wedding Photographer on August 11, 2010

FROM Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs on page 203

  • you tell him verbally or in writing that you value his work efforts
  • you express your faith in him related to his chosen field
  • you listen to his work stories as closely as you expect him to listen to your accounts of what happens in the family
  • you see yourself as his helpmate and counterpart and talk with him about this whenever possible
  • you allow him to dream as you did when you were courting
  • you don’t dishonor or subtly criticize his work “in the field” to get him to show more love “in the family”

Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Performed By The Moscow Symphony

by Peter Doyle Wedding Photographer on July 13, 2010

As some of you may know I went to UNC-G on a music scholarship with my principle instrument being percussion. Well, one of the best semesters was when I played Scheherazade in the orchestra. Rimsky-Korsakov must not have been a percussionist because I think his rule was, when in doubt, double it. I didn’t play the ballet but I thought it would be good to let you see what it looked like. Dear Shannon,
That is shocking news.
Although I have two clients expecting completed work this afternoon, I will, of course, drop everything and do whatever it takes to facilitate the speedy return of Missy.

Fighting With Oreo

by Peter Doyle Wedding Photographer on June 7, 2010

While I was in California a few weeks back I took a few minutes to play fight with my brother’s dog, Oreo. Oreo loves to play fight and loves to “bite” arms and hands but has never once bit too hard. I grew up watching my dad wrestle with our dogs so it’s something I do today. For those dog lovers who like to wrestle here’s one for you.
